親鸞聖人御正忌報恩講

浄土真宗の宗祖親鸞聖人の御祥月命日（旧暦11月28日、新暦1月16日）に、宗祖に対する報恩感謝のために営まれる法要。東本願寺では11月21日から28日までの一週間勤められる。また、西本願寺では新暦に直した1月9日から16日まで勤められる。真宗十派の御正忌報恩講の日程は、真宗教団連合のサイトで確認できる。

Shōrō-shōni Hōonkō is an annual Buddhist memorial service observed by Jōdo Shinshū followers to honor the founder, Shinran Shōnin, on his lunar death anniversary. Traditionally held on the 28th day of the eleventh lunar month, the service expresses deep gratitude for Shinran’s teachings on the Pure Land path. At Higashi Hongan-ji in Kyoto, the observance spans November 21–28, while Nishi Hongan-ji commemorates it from January 9–16 according to the modern calendar. Services feature chanting of the Nembutsu, Dharma talks, and communal meals shared by clergy and lay members. The ceremony reinforces community bonds, reflections on impermanence, and the teachings of compassion embodied by Shinran. Pilgrims and local believers alike visit temples to pay respects and seek spiritual renewal.
