1862年に仙台藩で生まれた新渡戸は、東京大学で農学を学びました。 アメリカやイギリスに留学し国際感覚を養った後、日本の教育改革に取り組みます。 1900年に東京女子職業学校（現東京女子大学）の学長に就任し、女子教育の普及に貢献。 1910年に英語で『Bushido: The Soul of Japan』を刊行し、日本文化の精神を世界に紹介。 国際連盟事務次長としても活躍し、平和と教育の重要性を訴え続けました。 1933年に逝去。

オリヴァー・フランクス（1905年-1992年）は、英国の官僚および哲学者です。 ケンブリッジ大学で哲学を学び、学術研究に従事しました。 政府の政策立案に携わり、公務員として行政改革を推進しました。 哲学と行政を結びつけた独自の視点で知られ、教育行政や外交にも貢献しました。 晩年は大学運営に関わり、後進の育成に尽力しました。

Tajima Setsuo (1925–2007) was a prominent Japanese philosopher whose work spanned ethics, political thought, and comparative studies. He served as a professor at leading universities, including the University of Tokyo. Tajima authored numerous essays and books examining the intersection of Eastern and Western philosophical traditions. He was influential in introducing Heidegger and existential thought to Japanese academia. His lectures inspired generations of scholars in philosophy and the humanities. Tajima's work remains a cornerstone for students of modern Japanese philosophy.
