Joseph Banks (1743-1820) was a pioneering English naturalist and botanist. He joined Captain James Cook's 1768-1771 voyage to the South Pacific, collecting thousands of plant specimens. Banks introduced many exotic species to Europe, transforming horticulture and agriculture. He served as President of the Royal Society for over 40 years, promoting scientific exploration. His advocacy laid the foundations for modern botanical gardens and natural history museums.

Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire (1772-1844) was a prominent French naturalist. He pioneered the concept of the 'unity of composition', identifying homologies across animal species. Saint-Hilaire's ideas on structure and development influenced early evolutionary thought. As a professor at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, he advanced the study of invertebrates. His debates with Georges Cuvier became landmark discussions in comparative anatomy and taxonomy.

John Dalberg-Acton (1834-1902), 1st Baron Acton, was a British historian and writer. He is best remembered for his famous aphorism on power and corruption. Acton served as a professor of modern history at Cambridge University. He collected extensive historical manuscripts and corresponded with prominent intellectuals of his era. His critical and ethical approach to history influenced both academic scholarship and political thought.

1925年に生まれ、東京工業大学で工学を学ぶ。 1960年代からロボット工学の研究を開始し、日本の産業ロボット普及に貢献。 知能制御や自動化システムの開発で国内外の学会に論文を発表。 多くの技術者を教育し、大学教授として後進の育成にも力を注ぐ。 1994年6月19日に他界し、日本のロボット技術発展の礎を築いた。
