初の日本製戦闘機である会式七号小型飛行機が初飛行。
The Kaishiki No.7, Japan’s first domestically designed fighter plane, makes its maiden flight.
On June 13, 1916, the Kaishiki No.7 small aircraft took to the skies for its first test flight, marking Japan’s entry into military aviation design. Developed by the Army Aircraft Factory, this fighter prototype showcased innovative engineering tailored to the rugged conditions of aerial combat. The flight lasted several minutes and reached speeds that impressed military officials, who saw Japan’s potential to produce its own modern aircraft. Although only a handful were built, the No.7 paved the way for future Japanese fighter designs in the interwar period. It symbolized a major step toward self-reliance in aviation technology during World War I.
