Tim Beaumont was an English priest and politician who was a leading figure in the Green Party and sat in the House of Lords.
John Timothy Beaumont was born on November 22, 1928, in Hampshire, England. Ordained as a Church of England priest in the 1950s, he became active in social and environmental causes. Beaumont was a founding member and later leader of the UK’s Ecology Party, which evolved into the Green Party. In 1975 he was made a life peer and took his seat in the House of Lords, where he championed environmental legislation and humanitarian issues. He also co-founded the Christian Socialist Movement and was involved in pacifist organizations. Beaumont’s dual vocation in faith and politics made him a unique voice for ecological and social justice. He passed away in 2008 at the age of 79.
