Henry Worsley DSO was a British Army officer and dedicated explorer. Born on October 4, 1960, he served with distinction in the Coldstream Guards and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order. Worsley pursued his passion for polar exploration, leading and participating in expeditions to Antarctica, including a solo crossing attempt of the continent. In 2016, while attempting the first unaided solo trek to the South Pole, he succumbed to exhaustion and severe dehydration. His courage and commitment to exploration have inspired adventurers worldwide.

Carlos Carsolio is a Mexican alpinist born on October 4, 1962. He became one of the youngest climbers to summit all fourteen peaks over 8,000 meters, completing the feat in 1996 at age 33. Known for his bold, lightweight expeditions, Carsolio achieved solo ascents of K2 and Annapurna. His leadership and mountaineering skills have been recognized with multiple national awards. He has shared his experiences through lectures and publications, inspiring a new generation of climbers. Carsolio remains an influential figure in high-altitude mountaineering.

Ueli Steck (1976–2017) was a Swiss mountaineer known as 'the Swiss Machine' for his exceptional speed on some of the world's toughest routes. He set numerous solo speed records, including a remarkable ascent of the north face of the Eiger in 2 hours and 47 minutes. Steck also achieved first ascents and innovative routes in the Himalayas, often climbing without supplemental oxygen. He won two Piolet d'Or awards for his commitment and audacity in alpine mountaineering. Steck was celebrated for his meticulous preparation and physical endurance. Tragically, he died in an accident on Nuptse in Nepal in 2017 while acclimatizing for an Everest-Lhotse traverse. His legacy endures through film documentaries and the mountain community he inspired.
