Negroni

Category: Short Cocktail
Base Spirit: Gin
Alcohol Content: 24-30%
Glass Type: Old Fashioned Glass

Description

The Negroni is one of the world's most beloved classic cocktails, born in Florence, Italy in 1919. Characterized by its simple yet profound flavor combining equal parts gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari, it offers a sophisticated adult taste where Campari's bitterness, vermouth's sweetness, and gin's refreshingness are exquisitely balanced. Cherished as an aperitif, its complex and refined flavor has been loved by many celebrities.

Origin

Country of Origin: Italy (1919)

In 1919, Count Camillo Negroni, a regular customer at the historic restaurant "Caffè Casoni" in Florence, asked bartender Fosco Scarselli if he could make an Americano (Campari, vermouth, soda) a bit stronger, which led to the creation of the cocktail by replacing soda with gin. The bartender garnished it with orange instead of lemon to show the difference, which became the prototype of today's Negroni.
