Born in 1966, David Cairns was a Scottish politician and former Roman Catholic priest. He was elected as Member of Parliament for Greenock and Inverclyde in 2001 and held the seat until 2011. Cairns served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary and later as Minister of State for Scotland, focusing on Scottish affairs. His work in government addressed community and regional issues. Prior to politics, he served in the priesthood before becoming laicised.
