Leon Chwistek was a multifaceted intellectual active in early 20th-century Poland. He pioneered the Formist movement, blending Cubism and Futurism in his paintings. As a philosopher and mathematician, he wrote influential works on the limits of reason. Chwistek contributed to mathematical logic and the foundations of analytic philosophy. Étienne Gilson was a prominent French philosopher renowned for reviving interest in medieval thinkers such as Thomas Aquinas.
