Bryn Lewis was born in 1891 in Pontypool, Wales, and quickly rose through the ranks of Welsh rugby clubs with his powerful forward play. Lewis’s athleticism and determination made him a favorite among teammates and supporters. With the outbreak of World War I, he enlisted in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and served on the Western Front. He was killed in action in 1917 during operations near Ypres at the age of 26. His sacrifice is commemorated by rugby clubs and war memorials across Wales.
