John Adams (also known as Alexander Smith) was born in 1766 in England and served as a sailor aboard HMS Bounty.
He participated in the mutiny against Captain William Bligh on April 28, 1789, and escaped to Pitcairn Island.
Adams emerged as a leader and peacemaker among the mutineers and their Tahitian companions.
Under his guidance, the Pitcairn community established a stable settlement in isolation.
He died in 1829, remembered as the last surviving Bounty mutineer and a key figure in Pacific history.
