Born in 1970 in Tokyo, Kimiya Yui joined the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as an astronaut candidate. He flew to the International Space Station in 2015 as part of Expedition 44/45, conducting scientific experiments. Yui logged over 115 days in space, advancing research in microgravity and technology demonstrations. Before his astronaut career, he served as a test pilot in the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, honing his aviation expertise.
