Frederick Samuel Dellenbaugh (1853–1935) was an American explorer, topographer, and writer best known for his role in John Wesley Powell’s Colorado River expedition. He mapped and documented uncharted stretches of the Grand Canyon, producing vivid sketches and reports. Dellenbaugh's 1901 book, "Discovery of the Colorado River of the West," combined exploration narrative with geological observations. He later traveled in Central America and Mexico, writing travelogues that popularized Southwest landscapes among American readers. Dellenbaugh's work helped advance geographic knowledge and inspired future generations of adventurers.
