German economist theorist and philosopher
Polish-German Marxist theorist and revolutionary, co-founder of the Spartacus League.
Born in 1871 in Zamość, Rosa Luxemburg became a pioneering economist and political philosopher. She earned her doctorate in economics and critiqued capitalist systems in her influential writings. Luxemburg opposed both World War I and authoritarian socialism, advocating for mass action and democratic processes. She co-founded the Spartacus League with Karl Liebknecht, leading the short-lived German Revolution of 1918–1919. Her assassination in 1919 solidified her legacy as a symbol of revolutionary struggle and intellectual rigor.
