Jack Rose

Category: Short Cocktail
Base Spirit: Apple Brandy
Alcohol Content: 16-20%
Glass Type: Cocktail Glass

Description

Jack Rose is a beautiful rose-colored classic cocktail based on apple brandy. Born in early 1900s New York, it's one of the historic cocktails that survived Prohibition. The name comes from the 'Jack' in applejack (the base spirit) and the beautiful rose color created by grenadine syrup. Featured in Hemingway's novels and beloved by many writers and Hollywood stars, it perfectly balances the rich apple aroma with lime acidity and grenadine sweetness, making it popular among women for its approachability.

Origin

Country of Origin: United States (1900年代初頭)

There are multiple theories about the origin of Jack Rose. The most famous is that it was created by Frank J. May (known as Jack Rose), a bartender at Gene Sullivan's Café in New Jersey. Another theory links it to 'Bald Jack Rose', who was involved in a famous 1912 murder case in New York. Regardless of its exact origin, this cocktail survived Prohibition and became an important part of American cocktail culture.
