Born in 1935 in Tennessee, Dan Evins opened the first Cracker Barrel restaurant in 1969 as a roadside eatery with a country store. He expanded the concept into a national chain known for Southern comfort food and nostalgic décor. Evins pioneered the integration of retail and dining, influencing American roadside hospitality. Under his leadership, Cracker Barrel grew to over 600 locations across the United States. He also supported community and educational initiatives through philanthropic efforts.
